KARACHI: Former Pakistan’s captain Salman Butt on Sunday took a swipe at the country’s selection policy following Pakistan’s humiliating defeat at the hands of Australia in the first Test of the two Test-match series in Brisbane.“As Test Championship is in progress so I think Pakistan should have the best for the series that they have,” Salman told reporters here ahead of his team Central Punjab's ninth round outing of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy.“What I think is that experience should be utilised in such conditions because cricket is not somewhere when you say that you are planning for future. It’s not that we are to make players after ten years or so. Currently the best lot should be utilised. Test cricket is a game of specialists and here ifs and buts don’t work,” he said. He said that pitches in Australia are the best in the world for batting. “Australian pitches are the best for batting in the world. Only you will have to cope with the bounce. You must learn that the place to which you are going which shots you can play and which shots should be avoided. The more you are aware and the more you have practised, the more good results will come,” Salman said. About leggie Yasir Shah’s performance in the first Test which Pakistan lost by an innings and five runs Salman said Yasir lacked in some areas.“Yasir’s pace is a bit more and bowls with low trajectory to produce results at international level," he pointed out.
