ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Friday sought more time from the Election Commission of Pakistan’s scrutiny committee to furnish details of its donors, whereas the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) submitted response to the questionnaire to the forum. The committee, which has been directed by the Election Commission to hold meetings daily, directed the PPP representatives to appear before it on December 03 regarding the replies and other documents, they had submitted to it. The PTI MNA Farrukh Habib had moved the Election Commission in 2017, alleging glaring irregularities in the accounts of both the PML-N and PPP. Both deny any wrongdoing. The PML-N representatives denied having any company registered in the United States, but did not respond to the purported Britain-based company, it was learnt. They requested for more time to compile CNICs and other details of their donors. They explained to have already submitted details of the party accounts in Pakistan to the Election Commission as well as the committee.Talking to media persons outside the Election Commission Secretariat, the PTI parliamentary secretary Farrukh Habib claimed that the PML-N had submitted one-page document to the committee and tried to run away from accountability, seeking more time about details of its donors. He wondered why the PML-N was unable to share details of how were Rs1 billion plus managed for payment to the media for its poll campaign and other related expenditures. He feared a Qatari letter might come to their rescue or they would have to summon camels from Abu Dhabi.“These are the matters and questions, the answer of which they will have to give, as things move forward,” he emphasised.
