BANNU: The tribal elders in North Waziristan on Monday blocked Thall Road against the mines bill and closure of schools in the district.Speaking on the occasion, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz chief organiser Malik Liaqat Ali Khan, former Member National Assembly (MNA) Malik Ziaur Rehman, Akbar Zaman, Said Ali Shah, Abdur Rahim, Gul Mir Khan and Malik Rahimullah said that the bill passed by provincial assembly without the consultation and consent of the lawmakers from the tribal districts had prompted the people and tribal elders to stage the protest. They said that people had a right over the natural resources, adding that the government had acted inhumanly without taking the tribal people and elected representatives into confidence. The speakers urged Chief Minister Mahmood Khan to withdraw the mines act and take the stakeholders into confidence. Regarding the schools, they said that most of the schools had been occupied by the Maliks. They said they would continue the protest each weekend to block the road for the acceptance of their demands.
