Salt Arts is on fire, not literally but figuratively speaking. Having surpassed 75 shows, the Karachi-based music and arts company seems to be on a roll as the year comes to an end.Having announced the return of Super Salt in 2019, a multiple-act, audio-visual live show scheduled to take place on December 14 of this year with first two artists – Shamoon Ismail and Ali Gul Pir – been announced, Salt Arts is also keeping up its promise of making the year about women. With the theme, ‘FutureisFemale,’ and discounted prices for women at various events, they have also held Salt Soiree events throughout the year featuring female artists such as Haniya Aslam and Zoe Viccaji. While we continue to guess who will feature in Super Salt 2019 besides Islamabad-based Shamoon Ismail and Karachi-based Ali Gul Pir, Salt Arts has announced another show called Salt Soiree 35 (#DesiMix) featuring Nimra Rafiq, alongside Jonathan Jones, Ajay Harry, Zahid Qureshi, Joshua Amjad and Shane Kerr. “Nimra Rafiq is back with DesiMix! Prolific vocalist Nimra and her band will be performing a hopping selection of popular Southasian hits! Think dholak, think acoustic guitar – classic Karachi fun,” noted Salt Arts on its official Instagram handle. Scheduled to take place on November 13, it will be a limited capacity event. For information on tickets, head to the Salt Arts Instagram page now. It has been a landmark year for the arts and music company that recently curated the closing party for The Nest I/O, the technology incubator that helps start-ups; they introduced a residency program and continued with live music shows. Taking Super Salt 2019 to the next level by making it an afternoon onwards event, Salt Arts is building an audience and a creative community that works together. As for the upcoming Salt Soiree 35 featuring Nimra Rafiq, a member of Sounds of Kolachi, she is also appearing solo on Coke Studio 12 this year, so watch out! This DesiMix will be very special and a lot of fun.
