Rabbani slams Indian general’s remarks

ISLAMABAD: Former chairman Senate Mian Raza Rabbani Tuesday strongly condemned the statement of Indian retired general on rape of Kashmiri women and called on the world capitals and international bodies to take notice of this most hateful venom.Reacting to the Indian general’s statement, which took many by shock and surprise, Senator Rabbani said the statement of a retired Maj. Gen. of Indian Army spewed the most hateful venom against Kashmiri women when he said they should be raped. “This statement has crossed all bounds of indecency, ethical, legal and moral standards. The statement is despicable and condemnable in the strongest possible terms,” he maintained.The international organisations and world capitals, he emphasised, which preach human rights should take notice of this statement, which was an admission that rape, torture and religious genocide was being used by the Indian occupation forces as a tool to further a political agenda.“The statement followed at the heels when the Modi government had targeted the offices of the Amnesty International in Karnataka and in New Delhi,” he recalled. Rabbani lamented that the Indian government continued its ruthless oppression in the Kashmir valley and it denied any international media coverage while it continued to commit atrocities.The veteran lawmaker contended that history was a testament to the fact that no amount of suppression, oppression or state terrorism could deny the people of their freedom. “The Kashmiri struggle is a movement for the right of self-determination and the people shall meet with victory,” he concluded.
