In Pakistan, mental health is a neglected field; annually, tens of thousands of people suffer from mental disorders due to depression and anxiety. Regretfully, Pakistan has just one psychiatrist for each about 10,000 persons suffering from any mental disorder. And merely four major psychiatric hospitals exist for a population of 220 million.More worryingly, due to lack of education, most people do not go for consultation, because they think that people will call them 'mad' if they visit a psychiatrist. I humbly request the government of Pakistan to run a campaign about the awareness of mental-health issues, and establish more psychiatric hospitals.Abrar Moosa PeshbeenJiwani
