You go girl!

womenThere is no gain saying the fact that women are always struggling for success in a male dominated society. Even in the field of fashion, where there is a room for success, they are put behind in the race with contemporary male designers and fashion enthusiasts. What if they are given a good platform to channel their passion and make a name even when they have competition? This is what Sunsilk’s Fashion Edition Campaign aims to do by offering opportunities to young girls in the field of fashion.Interestingly, the global hair care brand has become synonymous with fashion through their annual Fashion Edition Campaigns. Year on year, it collaborates with the top fashion designers of the country and brings fashion closer to the Sunsilk girl. This year, the brand aims to take the fashion platform forward by opening possibilities for young girls. With seven illustrious Pakistani designers onboard, each of them designed a different look focusing on a theme for each variant of its Fashion Edition Bottle. ‘Revolutionary’ by Ali Xeeshan, ‘Modest’ by Alkaram, ‘Edgy’ by Elan, ‘Diverse’ by Generation, ‘Traditional’ by Khaadi, ‘Futuristic’ by Sana Safinaz and ‘Imaginative’ by Sania Maskatiya. The launch of the new Fashion Edition Campaign, the bottles and designer visions for a better future in fashion were celebrated with great style at a local hotel in Karachi, recently. With the launch of the latest campaign, the aim is to assist girls in being a part of Pakistan’s fashion industry, enabling them to move in the right direction - as models, fashion photographers or designers. The brand’s Fashion Edition journey doesn’t end here, perhaps it’s only the beginning because it will be recruiting millennial girls through its digital platform and will aid them in pursuing their dreams by awarding them scholarships, internships and other learning experiences.Coming back to the event, it started off with the uber charismatic, Zara Peerzada, host for the evening, mingling with the guests and onto the stage where she opened up a panel discussion which comprised of six of the seven designers. Each talked about their theme for the bottle, and how the definition of fashion has evolved over time, and is different for every person. While Ali Xeeshan spoke about cause-related collections with a purpose, Alkaram incorporated styling for hijab and why it’s important and Elan brought under conversation their new partnership with the brand. While Khaadi explained the connect between traditionalism and fashion, Sana Safinaz spoke about their journey with it and what their future plans for the millennials are and last but not least, Sania Maskatiya talked about ambition and broadening horizons. With this, the brand brought these pioneers and change shifters to share their opinion and inspire girls to unlock possibilities and move in the direction of pursuing their dreams of becoming what they aspire to be. Post discussion, the models walked down the ramp sporting trendy hairstyles and wearing fashion statement t-shirts styled by each designer. Seven life sized Fashion Edition bottles were then fashionably revealed. Ali Xeeshan’s look was for Soft & Smooth (Yellow), Alkaram for Anti-Breakage (Peach), Elan for Hairfall (Gold), Generation for Refresh (Light green), Khaadi for Black Shine (Black), Sana Safinaz for Thick and Long (Pink) and Sania Maskatiya for Long & Healthy (Green). The chic hairdos were done by Team Nabila who showcased hair looks with a fresh and creative flair; perfect for the upcoming spring and summer season.Along with this, there was also an elaborate booth display for each variant with striking fashion statements that depicted the particular designer theme - ‘On the runway of Change’ for Ali Xeeshan, ‘I will lead the show’ for Alkaram, ‘I create my own trends’ for Elan, ‘My hijab empowers me’ for Generation, ‘Traditional with a twist’ for Khaadi, ‘I let my hair-do the talking’ for Sana Safinaz and ‘I am my own canvas’ for Sania Maskatiya. These booths acted as the perfect photo-opportunity and made for a fun and quirky backdrop for Instagram-worthy pictures that added an extra oomph to the event.Amongst the tastefully lit lighting and decor, there were famous faces with the likes of Shamoon Sultan and Saira of Khaadi, Umair Tabani and Sania Maskatiya, Sana Hashwani, Safinaz Muneer, Ali Xeeshan, Ather Hafeez of Alkaram, Khadija Shah of Elan along with many other key media influencers.—You! desk
