Pakistan’s longest running contemporary award ceremony, known colloquially as the LSAs came under a lot of scrutiny this month for its nomination of Ali Zafar, an “alleged offender”.Several nominees pulled out of it in a bid to not share the spotlight with an alleged offender while many artists showed support for the Lux Style Awards, stressing that the platform has acknowledged talent for years. In a recent turn of events, Ali Zafar finally spoke up on the subject via a post on his social media. He shared a clip from the 15th Lux Style Awards in which he opened the show, performing and singing a song to celebrate the 15-year anniversary.“Alfaaz per tawajjoh de ker ise ghaur se dekhiye. Kuch jawab is mein milein ge aur kuch bohat jald. Ghabraana nahin hai. Her cheez ka aik waqt hota hai aur voh jaldi aane vaala hai. [Watch this carefully and pay attention to the words. You will find a few answers here and the rest very soon. Don’t fret. There’s a right time for everything and it is about to come.],” Ali Zafar tweeted. On the other hand, Humayun Saeed also spoke about the entire LSA controversy. He noted that the LSAs have been recognizing a diverse range of artists for two decades and any dispute shouldn’t take that away.“Any dispute regarding nominations shouldn’t take away from the fact that it’s the country’s only platform to have managed to acknowledge so many incredibly talented Pakistanis for such a long time, thereby making it imperative that it continues to do so in the future as well,” Saeed posted.– This is a developing story
