PA expresses solidarity with armed forces

The Sindh Assembly on Thursday passed a unanimous resolution to condemn the Indian acts of unilateral aggression across the Line of Control and express solidarity with the Pakistani armed forces valiantly defending the geographical boundaries of the country.Over 50 lawmakers across the treasury-opposition divide took part in the general discussion in the house on the resolution, which continued for two consecutive days after the suspension of the routine business of the legislature.“This house appreciates the effective combat by our high spirited Pakistan Air Force. This house stands unified with our Armed Forces and their commendable efforts in protection of our motherland,” the resolution read.Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said all the quarters stood fully united for the defence of Pakistan. He appreciated the fact that all the political parties had fully backed the federal government on the issue of Indian aggression.The suicide bomber involved in the Pulwama attack was an Indian national who had nothing to do with Pakistan as India had earlier arrested him several times, the CM said, lamenting the allegations levelled by India against Pakistan after the attack in Kashmir.“We have never shied away from war but war has never been our wish as Pakistan is a peace-loving country,” Shah said.He said India was under obligation to present evidence to prove its claim of shooting down a Pakistani F-16 fighter plane and killing 300 people inside Pakistan in the air attack as nobody was willing to believe its false claims.The CM informed the house that the provincial government had been acting according to the standard operating procedure in view of the tense security situation at present as all the required arrangements were being made by the administration.He said efforts were being made to ensure adequate supply of medicines and food to the areas of the province that bordered with India. Leader of the Opposition Firdous Shamim Naqvi who belongs to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf paid homage to Prime Minister Imran Khan for sending a clear message to India that Pakistan was a peace-loving and civilised country. Naqvi also praised the Pakistan Peoples Party Zulfikar Ali Bhutto for launching the nuclear programme of Pakistan.Pakistanis were a peace-loving nation as they would never take the lead in declaring a war, the opposition leader said. He added that India had been continuing its atrocities in Kashmir and hundreds of Kashmiri people had been martyred only because of their faith.“Our show of respect and sincerity should not be misconstrued as our weakness. If you cause us pain, there will be no compromise on our security,” he said, adding that if a war has to be waged, it should be waged against poverty and hunger.Nadeem Ahmed Siddiqui, a Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan lawmaker, said the entire nation was fully united for achieving the cause of peace in the region. The Pakistan army enjoyed the full backing of the entire country, he added.Sindh Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Abdul Bari Pitafi said natives of Sindh had always been torchbearers for peace not just in the region but in the entire world. War could only lead to a path of destruction, he remarked.Several movements and struggles for just and rightful causes had been wrongly termed unlawful owing to the lack of consensus on the definition of terrorism, the MQM-P MPA said. He added that India had always looked for flimsy grounds to blame Pakistan.
