Gold Bridge Media, RLCA, Shafqat Swaleha record wins

KARACHI: Gold Bridge Media, Rashid Latif Cricket Academy (RLCA) and Shafqat Swaleha registered victories in the latest round of Southern Zone matches of the 20th National Seniors Cup here the other day.According to the details made available by the Pakistan Veterans Cricket Association (PVCA), Gold Bridge Media defeated Haseen Habib by eight wickets at the Naya Nazimabad Stadium, RLCA whipped Friends by nine wickets at the RLCA Ground and Shafqat Swaleha overpowered Haseen Habib by seven wickets at the TMC Ground.Haseen Habib amassed 187 for seven in the allotted 25 overs against Gold Bridge Media with Nadeem Akhtar (49 off 25 balls) and skipper Jawwad Barry (39 off 26 balls) being the leading scorers. The bowling honours were shared by Muhammad Akbar (2-31) and Irfan Rana (2-35).The 184-run opening partnership between Muhammad Amin (88 off 55 balls) and Kamran Hussain (87 off 52 balls) allowed Gold Bridge Media to reach the target with as many as six overs to spare.Friends were bowled out for 178 off 24.1 overs against RLCA. Shoaib Ali (47 off 32 balls), Abdul Salam (46 off 39 balls) and Anwar Malik (38 off 25 balls) were the major contributors as the innings was rocked by the trio of Abdul Qadir (3-39), Asif Shaikh (2-17) and Nasir Khan (2-33).RLCA got off to a flying start through the opening pair of Muhammad Rizwan and Aziz-ur-Rahman, who put the result beyond doubt. Muhammad Rizwan departed after scoring 95 off 52 balls with six sixes and 10 fours. Muhammad Rizwan remained unconquered on 60 off 39 balls, hitting two sixes and eight fours. The winning runs came with eight overs and nine wickets in hand.Haseen Habib posted 194 for six off 25 overs against Shafqat Swaleha with Hanif-ur-Rahman (77 off 56 balls) playing the lead role as off-spinners Haris Ayaz (2-20) and Mansoor Khan (2-37) picked up vital wickets.Shafqat Swaleha lost both the openers early in pursuit of a daunting target but they were put on course of victory by Haris Ayaz and Nadeem Haq who added 143 for third wicket. Haris smashed two sixes and nine fours in his unbeaten 83 off 59 balls, while Nadeem whacked four sixes and eight fours in his 80 off 44 balls, which allowed their team to get over the line with 2.3 overs remaining.
