'Send him back': 24-year-old Kashmiri journalist beaten up Pune

In yet another incident of assault on Kashmiris in India, Jibran Nazir, a 24-year-old journalist was beaten up in the Indian city of Pune. According to the police, Jibran was thrashed by two men on Thursday night in an incident related to road rage reportedly. When asked, Jibran, who works for a newspaper in Pune, said that the men beat him up and said that they would 'send him back to Kashmir'. However, he added, that it was not an 'organised' attack. Jibran went on to state that he was attacked by the assailants in the night at around 10.45 p.m. when he was returning home on his bike. As he stopped at a traffic signal, two men on a motorbike behind him started honking, asking him to move, which led to a heated exchange of words. Noticing that his motorbike had a Himachal Pradesh (HP) registration number, the duo said they would pack him off to Himachal Pradesh.When Jibran corrected them, saying he was a journalist from Jammu and Kashmir, the duo beat him up, saying “we will send you back to Kashmir, do your journalism there," said Jibran. The assailants then snatched his mobile, damaged the bike and fled the scene. Jibran  noted down their bike number and filed a complaint after which the two were located and brought down to the station. Indian atrocities on innocent Kashmiris continue as matters have aggravated to a frightening scale in the wake of the Pulwama attack.
