Pakistan’s first original web series to release on Eros Now, Enaaya - written , directed and co-produced by Wajahat Rauf - came under a bit of scrutiny after the first episode was launched. Some people raised questions on the use of abusive language during a fight sequence, which they felt was completely unnecessary.Speaking to entertainment portal Dhanak on the sidelines of an event, Mehwish Hayat spoke up on the subject, “There is so much more to the show then this.”Reflecting on people’s feedback on the use of abusive terms, she added, “It is very much real, it happens; unless we turn a blind eye to that. We can show things as is on web at least. It is unfortunate that some of the people were judging the show without even seeing the whole season.”The first season of Enaaya that features Mehwish, Azfar Rehman, Asad Siddiqui and Faryal Mehmood in key roles is out on Eros Now. More seasons are in the pipeline.“We will be shooting for the next season in the mid of this year while it will be released by the end of 2019,” Mehwish informed, adding that there aren’t many platforms for web series in Pakistan yet. “Eros Now is already established; they approached us and asked for content from Pakistan. It is an honour for us because they aren’t short of content or talent. Enaaya is the first original Pakistani web series ever produced for Eros Now; I am very proud to be a part of it. It’s a light hearted musical show.”“The controversy helped us any way,” the actress said optimistically, since more people watched it to find out what went wrong.
