PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly was informed on Monday that the provincial government had constituted a committee to devise a strategy to compensate the affectees of natural calamities or incidents.In response to a call attention notice moved by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Member Provincial Assembly Zahir Shah Toru, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Sultan Mohammad Khan said that the standing crops, cultivable lands, shops and other precious items were destroyed and damaged as a result of floods, torrential rains and other natural disasters but there was no proper law or mechanism to support or compensate the affected people and now the government had planned to provide maximum relief to the victims.Similarly, he added that the government also wanted to compensate shopkeepers or traders whose shops or trade centres were damaged as result of fire or other incidents.In his call attention notice, the PTI MPA said the government must devise a policy to support and compensate the shopkeepers and farmers whose properties are damaged as a result of natural calamities.Opposition leader Mohammad Akram Khan Durrani said that the committee concerned should be given a timeframe to devise a strategy for the victims of natural disasters.He said small farmers and traders were not compensated for their losses. The law minister assured the House that the committee would be bound to give its report within 30 days and it would be presented in the provincial assembly.To another call attention notice, Advisor to Chief Minister on Education Ziaullah Bangash said that fresh recruitment would be made in primary schools for cleanliness as besides education, the students at primary level should be provided hygienic and healthy environment.He said there were more than 20,000 primary schools in the province and recruiting a sweeper at each and every school would cost around Rs3 billion annually on account of salaries.The call attention notice was moved by Awami National Party MPA Samar Haroon Bilour who stated that post of sweepers should be created in primary schools to keep the schools neat and clean.The adjournment motion of opposition leader Akram Khan Durrani was also adopted for a general debate in which he had claimed that the degree-holders of some religious madrassas were deprived of special marks in recruitment of Arabic and theology teachers for government schools.
