Duration of power cuts reduced: Pesco head

PESHAWAR: Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) Chief Executive Mohammad Amjad on Tuesday said the duration of loadshedding had been reduced from 20 to four hours on eight feeders in.Speaking at a press conference, he said that meters were being installed on the high losses feeders while action was being taken against those who had secured illegal connection.Pesco General Manage Operations Sher Abbas Khan, DG Public Relations Shaukat Afzal and other officials were also present on the occasion.Mohammad Amjad said that Pesco was imposing heavy fines on those who were using electricity through kundas. He said the action was being taken with the help of the elected representatives to facilitate the genuine consumers.The Pesco chief executive said that the duration of loadshedding had been reduced on Pakha Ghulam, Phandu, Rahatabad, Akbarpura, Mian Essa and Sheikhan feeders after controlling line losses.He said that more gridstations and feeders would be established to ensure uninterrupted power supply to the consumers who were paying regular bills.He said that action was also taken against 15 grade-17 Pesco officers for poor performance. He said that action would also be taken against the black sheep performers in the revenue, accounts and billing sections.
