Last month Jawad Sharif’s documentary Indus Blues, which sheds light on Pakistani folk musicians and their struggle to keep this art form alive, won the Gold Award at Spotlight Documentary Awards 2018. This was followed by the film’s premiere in India just last week. Indus Blues was screened at the prestigious 11th Jaipur International Film Festival, India - which ran from January 18 till January 22, 2019. The film won two awards at the recently concluded festival. It won in the category of Best Feature Documentary and Best Cinematography.“We couldn’t have been happier to announce that Indus Blues has won not one but two awards at the Jaipur International Film Festival,” stated a post on the film’s official Facebook handle. “Team Indus Blues is humbled by the amazing response we received at our latest Indian premiere.”Director of the film, Jawad Sharif, who wasn’t present at the occasion, took to social media to share the news.“Words can’t explain my emotions at the moment,” he wrote. “We have won two big awards at the prestigious Jaipur International Film Festival, India. Thank you team Indus Blues for making it happen. Love across borders.”The film - that is yet to release in Pakistan - is also scheduled to screen at the upcoming Docfeed Documentary Festival 2019, which will commence from February 21 and will run till February 24.
