Bilal Nasir Khan may have started out with the (still cherished) indie music group Mole (with two albums and a Coke Studio performance to their credit) but he has since graduated with a degree in audio engineering from the United Kingdom, co-founded the net label Forever South, set up studios and evolved into a fine music producer – in addition to making music as Rudoh. He has also worked on films including two that were long-listed for the upcoming Oscars. In a recent interview with Instep, Bilal, while speaking about the present EDM scene in Pakistan noted, “There is a lot happening. A lot of interesting stuff is happening.”Bilal added: “Something that really caught my eye was SomeWhatSuper. I think they’re onto some cool stuff. Not exactly the kind of sound I would work on but it’s interesting to see that there is a duo like that. There are artists like Block 2, Janoobi Khargosh, who are doing this indie electronic stuff, I think that’s pretty cool. Abdullah Siddiqui, the kid, is unstoppable. For his age, he’s going to end up giving Pakistan something really incredible. If you boil it down, from the kind of background he is coming from, and his age and his level of expertise, he’s a genius. He’s a prodigy and I really feel someone needs to cater to this kid. I think he’s ready for something really big. I heard some of his stuff with Mohammad Ali Suhail – he’s got a new album coming out – and I heard one of their tracks and I thought it’s a Billboard worldwide hit. I don’t know if I’m accomplished enough or qualified enough to say this but this is A-grade music. This is something labels would throw their money at. And then you have young kids like Hatim Siddiqui, so a lot is happening.”
