Television actors foraying into films is not a new phenomenon in our industry. Quite a few actors and models such as Amna Ilyas and Mikaal Zulfiqar have made their debuts on the silver screen post cinema revival, contributing to the growth of Pakistani cinema. This year is no different as you will see some television faces as well as models and singers on the big screen for the first time. Instep lists down five of them, hoping that they will manage to leave a mark.Zahid AhmedWith some remarkable performances to his credit, including Sangat, Visaal, Besharam and Daldal among others, actor Zahid Ahmed is all set to make his cinematic debut. He will be starring in the upcoming movie, titled Sorry – A Love Story, which is a collaboration between music video director Sohail Javed and actor-producer Faysal Qureshi. In an earlier interview with Instep, the actor shared, “I couldn’t ask for a better film to start my journey with. The script is amazing; the actors are great.” According to the actor, Sorry – A Love Story is a romantic drama revolving around the theme of love and the ever-changing dynamics of love in the lives of four individuals who are interconnected.Apart from Zahid, the film will feature Faysal Qureshi, Aamina Sheikh and Sonya Hussyn in key roles. The film is scheduled to hit cinemas later this year. Zara Noor Abbas The actress, who became a household name with her play Khamoshi and is currently appearing in drama serial Qaid, will make her big screen debut with Asim Raza’s upcoming film, Parey Hut Love that is scheduled to release on Eid ul Azha 2019. In the upcoming film, that features Maya Ali and Sheheryar Munawar in lead roles, Zara Noor Abbas will be seen in a supporting role alongside Ahmed Ali Butt. The actress claims that her character, Shabbo, in Parey Hut Love is completely different from the roles she has essayed on television. Shabbo is innocent and doesn’t think before speaking. Dubbed as a romantic coming-of-age comedy, which has been written by Imran Aslam, the film will also feature Mahira Khan and Fawad Khan in special roles. Farhan Saeed It was reported earlier that singer turned actor Farhan Saeed, who garnered immense praise for his role in Suno Chanda alongside Iqra Aziz, would be making his big screen debut with Khalil Ur Rehman Qamar’s Kaaf Kangana but that didn’t materialize. Then there were speculations that Farhan might appear in Wajahat Rauf’s directorial, but things didn’t seem to work out. However, it has been confirmed that Farhan will finally make his film debut with Tich Button.The upcoming film is co-produced by Urwa Hocane and stars Feroze Khan, Iman Ali and Sonya Hussyn in lead roles apart from Farhan Saeed. The four of them will share the screen space for the first time in this upcoming family entertainer. According to Urwa Hocane, the film is about “love, friendship and is filled with fun.”Qasim Ali Mureed will be directing Tich Button while the script is being penned by Faiza Iftikhar. The film is expected to release later this year. Hamza Firdous Actor Hamza Firdous has a carved a niche in a rather short span of time. Currently starring in drama serial Seerat, Hamza is all set to make his film debut in Pakistan. Though the project is untitled as yet, recent reports suggest that the actor’s upcoming project is a crime thriller. In a recent interview with Instep, the actor shared that the film carries an important message for viewers. According to Hamza, it is an indie film with an entertaining script in which he will be essaying the male lead while the female lead is yet to be finalized. Written by Ali Moin, the untitled project is being directed by Asad Mumtaz Malik. The film, that will be shot in Karachi entirely, will also feature Saleem Mairaj and Adnan Shah Tipu among others. Zara AbidIn the recent past we have seen several fashion models transitioning to acting, including Sadaf Kanwal, Saheefa Jabbar Khattak, Areeba Habib and others. The face of many fashion campaigns, Zara Abid is yet another new entrant in the film fraternity. The model turned actor is currently busy shooting for her upcoming biopic, Chaudhry. Directed by Azeem Sajjad and written by Zeeshan Junaid, the film is based on the life of slain police officer, Chaudhry Aslam Khan. Speaking to Instep about her character in the biopic, Zara said, “I am essaying the role of a college going student. The character is strong and not a stereotypical one.” Moreover, the model turned actor claims that we will get to see the real Zara in the film.The model will be seen alongside Zohaib Khan, who is from Chicago, while the rest of the cast has not been revealed as yet.
