With musical adaptations such as Moulin Rouge, Phantom of the Opera and Bombay Dreams to his name, director Shah Sharabeel is all set to return to the world of theatre after four years. The last time he directed a play was You Only Marry Twice, in 2014.Titled Twins Apart, the upcoming Urdu musical will be his sixth musical and is inspired from Willy Russell’s Blood Brothers that made its debut in Liverpool before it was transferred to West End for a short run in 1983.“Twins Apart follows the lives of two brothers. It’s a very emotional, engaging play,” the director told Instep in a telephonic conversation. “It is not a serious play; it is a light hearted comedy with a flavor of romance. Besides, it has songs and music sequences that are generally part of musicals.”The play will premiere at the Karachi Arts Council on February 9 and will run till the 17th of March. This will be followed by a run at PNCA Islamabad from March 28 till April 14 after which the Twins Apart team will head to Lahore where the play will be performed from April 18 till May 5 in Hall 1, Alhamra Arts Council. Produced by Stage Nomad, Twins Apart is 2 hours 10 minutes long, according to the director.
