FeedbackHi Ed,In the issue of April 5, ‘Why people who can have an impact should stay in Pakistan’ by Usman Riaz caught my attention. Brain drain has become a permanent thing and we lose our cream to western countries. But, can we really blame our people? They are talented, smart and qualified but can’t get good jobs in their own country. Let’s accept the fact that the amount of money made by Pakistanis in USA, other western countries and the Middle East help the economy of our country. So we should not expect people to remain in the country if they have the option of going abroad. As for us, we have immense human resource and not all exceptionally smart people have the wherewithal to immigrate. So, even though we lose many of our brilliant people, we still have enough for our needs. All we need is to value our youth and provide opportunities for them in the country.Salman Zahir, KarachiHi Editor,‘Diving into the inkwell’ by Tooba Ghani was really interesting, and I am glad that libraries have started hosting literary events. I got some good ideas from the write-up that will help me with my thesis.‘A girl’s graduation gift’ by Mariam Malik was also insightful. My aunt is a doctor, but my grandmother is after her life all the time because she cannot make those ‘gol rotis’. So it doesn’t matter what your degree is if you are in Pakistan, because expectations from girls are too unreasonable. I feel women must change their mindset and encourage their sons to help with household chores, especially if females in the family also work.Sana Rashid, LahoreHello Editor,I read about Ziauddin Examination Board in the cover story ‘Need of the hour’ by Shermeen Zuberi, and realise that we need even more such boards. But, unless SSC and HSC improve their performance, majority of students in the city will continue to suffer. Not everyone can go to expensive schools so most students have only the option to attend schools and colleges under SSC and HSC.I hope that corruption in the boards is eradicated so students can depend on merit to get positions and scholarships.Usman Arshad, Karachi ReflectionNarrated by Abu MusaThe Prophet (S.A.W) said, “My example and the example of what I have been sent with is that of a man who came to some people and said, ‘O people! I have seen the enemy’s army with my own eyes, and I am the naked warner; so protect yourselves!’ Then a group of his people obeyed him and fled at night proceeding stealthily till they were safe, while another group of them disbelieved him and stayed at their places till morning when the army came upon them, and killed and ruined them completely So this is the example of that person who obeys me and follows what I have brought (the Quran and the Sunna), and the example of the one who disobeys me and disbelieves the truth I have brought.”Sahih Bukhari, Volume 9, Book 92, Number 387Editor: Lubna KhalidUs Magazine, 4th Floor, Al Rahman Building, I.I.Chundrigar Road, Karachi, Pakistan.Twitter: @UsMag_TheNewsFacebook: Us Magazine - PakistanInstagram: Us - Magazine for the youthNo items without the full name and address of the sender will be accepted.
