Shah Sharabeel’s Urdu musical Twins Apart that had a successful run in Karachi, followed by one in Lahore, earlier this year, is all set to open in Lahore tonight. Starting from today (April 19) at 8pm, the Lahore run will go on till April 28 at Alhamra (Hall # 1), Mall Road.The play marks Sharabeel’s comeback to stage after four years; Twins Apart is his sixth musical and is inspired from Willy Russell’s Blood Brothers that made its debut in Liverpool before it was transferred to West End for a short run in 1983.Twins Apart follows the story of twin brothers Isa and Musa, essayed by Umer Naru and Muslim Abbas, respectively. Separated at birth, Moosa and Isa end up in completely different circumstances in terms of social class. When they learn about the relation they share, they are forced to part ways as fate had decided something else for them.Produced by Stage Nomad, the 2 hours and 10 minutes long play will feature Kanwal Khan as Noori, Rehan Nazim as Ravi, Ifrah Khalid as Safia, Faiza Mahmood as Mrs Qazalbash, Abdul Ghani as Raju, among others.Prior to Twins Apart, Shah directed musicals such as Moulin Rouge, Phantom of the Opera and Bombay Dreams.
