Sana wants women’s PSL

LAHORE: Former Pakistan women’s captain Sana Mir urged the authorities that it is time for a women’s version of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) is introduced.“PSL is a wonderful brand that has been produced by Pakistan,” Mir said while talking to media. “We [Paksiatn women's team] have been playing international cricket for the last ten years and we are in the top ten.”“We just defeated West Indies and we have been playing good cricket. Deandra Dottin came to Pakistan to play and I think it was a big message and I think it is time we introduced a women's version of the PSL” she said.Mir further said, “Of course we don’t need to start off big with six teams. We can start with three or four teams or even an exhibition match.”“It is important for Pakistan women team. When we talk about improving the women’s game and competing with other international teams, then we need to give out girls exposure. Other teams give their women players’ exposure and it is important our players are engaged,” she asserted.“Our players can have sessions with coaches from abroad and that can make a huge difference,” Mir added.Responding to a question about the Lahore Qalandars Players Development Programme for women, the top-ranked bowler said it was a wonderful initiative which will give a chance to those girls who cannot come out and play cricket like the girls in Karachi and Lahore. “It is an excellent initiative for new talent to be found who can be groomed to play for Pakistan.”When asked which team she is supporting in this year’s PSL, Mir said it is difficult to pick a team since all of the teams have been playing such great cricket. “Right now I am supporting cricket.” “Shoaib Malik has been showing form, AB de Villiers is a pleasure to watch and I’m a fan of Darren Sammy’s captaincy,” she added.
