Retired govt employee wants son recruited

PESHAWAR: A retired employee of the Irrigation Department has been protesting for 36 months to get his son appointed in his place.Instead of getting disappointed with attitude of politicians and other people, the bearded Hassanzada declared that he would now stage a protest demonstration outside the Peshawar Press Club within next two days along with his grandsons till the acceptance of his demands.Hailing from the Buner district, Hassanzada, a retired gauge reader in the Irrigation Department, has vowed to spend his remaining life in his protest camp, which he establishedat the main Swar ai Chowk in Buner if his son Ikramullah was not given the job.Presenting copies of recommendation letters and directives of the government officials, he complained that instead of his son, another candidate, also named Ikramullah from Swat district, was recruited.He said he had been pointing out illegalities in the appointment and requesting the officials concerned to provide him justice but it seemed that rules and regulations were made to deprive helpless people of their rights.Hassanzada said that he displayed a banner at his protest camp with a slogan (Siyasi Log Murdabad, Intizamia Zindabad - (Down with politicians and long live the administration). Explaining the slogan, he argued that the administration supported his demand but the politicians issued him useless recommendation letters.He recalled that he was retired in 2013 and his son Ikramullah applied for the post under the quota for the sons of the employees. He said the officials concerned assured him that his son would get the job, but in vain.Hassanzada said his son, who was a graduate, was compelled to sell plastic bags and at times worked as a polio vaccinator.He added though some people considered him insane, he would fight for his right.
