Dubai-based director-producer Shazia Ali Khan’s debut feature film Pinky Memsaab released across Pakistan and Dubai in December 2018. Though the film initially got very limited shows in select cinemas, it recently returned to local cinemas post the ban on Indian films. Also, it has had multiple screenings and premieres in different parts of the world and the latest addition to the list is the upcoming UK Asian Film Festival (UKAFF).Pinky Memsaab will screen at the closing reception of UKAFF at Courthouse Hotel Shoreditch, London, on April 6, followed by Q & A with the cast. The official site of the festival states, “Join the UK Asian Film Festival in celebrating the closing of our 21st Revolutionary anniversary with a special screening and Q & A of Pinky Memsaab.”One of the protagonists of the film, Kiran Malik, who essays the role of a Dubai-based writer-socialite Mehr, took to social media and shared, “A chance for my friends and family in the UK to come and show their support to their local girl. Book your tickets for the 1-night only screening in London.”Alongside Kiran, the film stars Hajra Yamin as Pinky who heads to Dubai and works their as a maid to earn a living for her family. The film also features Adnan Jaffer as a rich banker while Indian actor Sunny Hinduja plays the role of a driver. Following the lives of these four individual, Pinky Memsaab highlights the hustle and bustle of life in Dubai and the intricacies of relationships amidst the chaos.
