After having its premiere in Dallas, United States, last month, Pinky Memsaab has another feather in its cap; the film is all set to screen at the upcoming 21st UK Asian Film Festival. The film will be showcased at the festival – scheduled to take place from March 27 till April 7, 2019 – in London on April 6. Directed and written by debutant Shazia Ali Khan, Pinky Memsaab features Hajra Yamin, Kiran Khan, Adnan Jaffar and Sunny Hinduja in pivotal roles. The UK Asian Film Festival, previously known as The London Asian Film Festival, has been going strong for over 19 years and aims to celebrate, award and reward great films, filmmakers and artists from South Asia. The film festival offers an eclectic mix of films, stimulating interviews, outstanding master classes and an annual short film competition. Coming back to Pinky Memsaab, the urban drama is set in Dubai and is about self-discovery, for Pinky (essayed by Hajra Yamin) and Mehr (Kiran Malik). It highlights the intersecting lives of two women coming from two different social strata. Pinky, a young woman from a small village in Punjab, gets the job of a maid in Dubai while Mehr is a Dubai-based writer/ socialite struggling with life and its intricacies.Pinky Memsaab released in Pakistan and Dubai in December 2018 and picked up mostly positive reviews.
