Pakistan to give befitting response to India: Sarwar

LAHORE : Punjab Governor Muhammad Sarwar has said that Pakistan is a peace-loving country but India shouldn't take Pakistan’s desire for peace as its weakness.According to a handout, the Punjab governor said if India tried to attack Pakistan, the whole nation would get united, stand with Pak Army and give befitting response to India. Pakistan is not a weak country and Pakistan will not be afraid of the shallow Indian threats.“We condemn the attack on Indian army and also want the perpetrators should be held accountable,” he added. After coming back to Lahore from Dubai, Punjab Governor Muhammad Sarwar said Prime Minister Imran Khan offered India to solve the problems, including Kashmir, through dialogue but India missed the opportunity due to its stubbornness. India is committing genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes in Kashmir in complete contravention of UN Charter and Pakistan has always raised voice against state terrorism by India on every forum including United Nations.For peace in South Asia, resolution of Kashmir dispute is essential, said the Punjab governor, adding, unfortunately, whenever any terrorist incident happened in India, it blamed Pakistan without any proof.Pakistan has made tremendous sacrifices in war against terrorism and played its role in regional peace by sacrificing the blood of its soldiers and citizens. Despite accepting that the attack was committed by an Indian citizen by using Indian vehicle, the Indian government is blaming Pakistan due to its stubbornness, he said.“We want to make clear that the defence of Pakistan is in strong hands and whole Pakistan is standing united along with Pak Army.We will not hesitate to make any sacrifice for Pakistan. Each and every inch of our territory will be defended. We will not allow India to breach our sovereignty. According to the international law, Pakistan will take all steps to ensure security to its citizens,” the Punjab governor concluded.scholarships: Punjab University Vice-Chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmad Akhtar has announced student of Faculty of Life Sciences (bachelor's degree programme) who will publish one research paper in impact factor journal will be given waiver in tuition fee while the students having two impact factor research papers will be given admission in MS and PhD programmes without any fee. He said this while addressing the faculty and students of Faculty of Life Sciences.Faculty of Life Sciences Dean Prof Dr Firdous-e-Barin, Prof Dr Shahida Husnain, Prof Dr Waheed Akhter, Prof Dr A R Shakoori and faculty members were also present.Prof Niaz said scholarships would be provided to the students with impact factor research while a cash prize would be awarded to the student having highest impact factor research. He urged the students to do research having positive impact on socio-economic development of the society.He said PU administration would provide resources and funding to such research projects and would extend full support. He said that the administration was promoting research activities to improve international ranking of the university and contribute to socio-economic development of the country.Prof Dr Firdous-e-Barin said the Faculty of Life Sciences had got 3 patents registered, produced 432 research papers in impact factor journals out of which the impact factor of 413 research papers was higher than 200 and worked on 108 research projects in 2018. She lauded the announcements of the VC and said it would encourage students to do research in their fields.APP adds: Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar Saturday took notice of the death of an eight-year-old girl in firing in a wedding ceremony in Manawan.The chief minister sought a report from the Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore and directed that the accused involved in the incident be arrested.
