ISLAMABAD: The sports promotion and cooperation agreement has been signed between the government of Pakistan and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) during the just-concluded visit of Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman.The agreement has ensured regular national and club teams, delegations exchanges at all levels with the host country responsible of catering the entire expenses of the visitors.The News has learnt from well-placed sources that the agreement that would initially be of five years is renewable unless and until one of the agreed parties withdraws.Players, coaches exchange programme with the help and coordination of the respective government, national Olympic committees and federations would become a regular feature according to understanding reached between the two countries. The agreement is aimed at fostering cooperation in all the area of sports development.Regular exchange of teams and delegations would be the key focus between the two countries. Concerning mutual exchange of sports teams and delegations, the two contracting parties have agreed that receiving party would cover the expenses relating to the visit (boarding and lodging), and the local travel expenses within its country.The agreement ensures coordination with each other with a view to benefit from the capacities of the sports trainers of the various sports games and organizing alternately mutual sports training camps through the sports institutions and the national sports federations of the two countries.Cooperation between sports institutions in both countries with a view to producing highly professional specialized trainers is also on cards. Exchanging visits between national select teams and promoting direct contacts between the various sports clubs of the two countries is also one of important points of the agreement reached between the two countries.Taking anti-doping measures during the course of training and competition programme is also on the agenda. Qualified professionals will be engaged to educate and discourage players from the harmful effects of these anti sports activities.It has also agreed upon that the respective Olympic Associations of the two countries would be taken in confidence while initiating all the sports and institutional development programmes. General Sports Authority in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Ministry of Inter Provincial Coordination in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan would be responsible to finalise such tours.
