The HEC no longer accepts degree attestation applications through walk-ins, courier or mail; it requires applicant to register at its e-portal and upload the scanned copies of the degree. If the HEC determines the degree to be genuine, it sends an email to the registered applicant, asking him/her to visit at one of the HEC regional centres along with a photocopy of the degree and the proof of payment of fee.It is no secret that an uninterrupted digital broadband access is required to upload the scanned copies – as the file size is large. Internet connection in urban areas is much strong than the service available in small towns and rural areas. In addition, those who were born before 1948 can’t register as the range of years on the website starts from the year 1948. A careful look by the HEC IT section will neutralise the HEC’s anti-geriatric policy.Zahid HusseinLahore
