Five-day electronic media training gets under way

PESHAWAR: A five-day electronic media training got underway here on Monday. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Deputy Speaker Mahmood Jan was the chief guest at the inaugural event arranged by the Women Media Center (WMC). In his speech, Mahmood Jan said it was heartening to see women from Karachi in Peshawar to train woman journalists and media students in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said the WMC is helping women to gain practical training in the field of journalism. “It will help fight biases and break the social stereotypes,” he hoped.Mahmood Jan said it is a pleasant surprise to see women stepping out in regions like Peshawar in search of freedom of speech and thoughts.He hoped the training would definitely help women journalists and media students in future endeavours.The deputy speaker said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government had got an opportunity to deliver what masses want as they have elected own government with a lot of hopes and expectations. The WMC Programme Assistant Iraj Atiq Khan said there was a lot of work yet to be taken to empower women at all levels with the best technology and more. She said the people had elected government and want it to deliver.
