NOWSHERA: Eleven persons, including the head of a family, six women and four children, were injured when a roof of a house collapsed due to an explosion caused by gas leakage in Shaidu town of Nowshera district, sources said.Noor Khitab, an Afghan refugee, told the police he was asleep in his room along with other his family members when the incident occurred.“We had lighted the gas lamp as power remains unavailable for most of the time. The gas supply was reduced later and we forgot to switch off the gas lamp. Later, the gas got accumulated in the room. And the explosion occurred when we tried to ignite fire in a stove,” said Noor Khitab, who suffered injuries in the explosion.He said the entire room caught fire and the roof of the room collapsed. “Four women of the family and six kids were buried under the debris and suffered burn injuries,” he added.Local residents along Rescue 1122 personnel reached the spot and retrieved the injured. They were shifted first to Qazi Medical Complex in Nowshera and later referred to the Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar.
