Arts Council unveils music academy faculty with a live gig

The Arts Council of Pakistan has been putting in consistent efforts to promote arts and culture in the country for many years. From festivals, music performances and theatre shows to trainings and workshops, it has provided a platform for aspiring artists who wish to pursue a career in the field. The most recent effort in this direction is the Arts Council Music Academy that trains young people in music for free. The faculty comprises 19 members that were introduced to a packed audience last weekend via a strong line-up of live performances. The event, called ‘Showcase – Grand Musical Night’, took place on Friday at the Karachi Arts Council and was open to all; hence, there was a huge turnout.The faculty features a diverse line-up of musicians including prominent names such as Emu aka Imran Momina, Farhan Rais Khan (son of Ustad Rais Khan), Jamal Yousuf, Ustad Mehmood Khan and Intezar Hussain, among others, who mesmerized a packed audience for over an hour. The music was a mix of classical and fusion.Speaking to Instep about the recent initiative, Ahmad Shah, president of Arts Council, shared that he plans to make some international collaborations with musician abroad so that learners can get an understanding of both eastern and western music.
