Thousands attend The News Education Expo 2019

PESHAWAR: Thousands of visitors on Wednesday thronged “The News Education Expo 2019” organised by The News while more than two dozens of major educational institutions of the province took part in the event.Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Speaker Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani was the chief guest on the occasion.He visited all the stalls and interacted with the stall holders and other visitors.The chief guest lauded the organisers for bringing the seats of higher education under one roof.Later, Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani briefed the media. To a question about reported differences between Jahangir Tareen and Shah Mahmood Qureshi, he said it was not a big issue. “Such petty issues do surface in major parties. There is nothing to worry about,” he said.Faculty members, administrative officers and students from different educational institutions visited the expo.Several universities had beautifully displayed the projects and models of their institutions.They had also put resource material on display at their stalls which were available free of cost to the visitors.The City School System had set up one of the stalls. Saima Saeed, principal of a junior branch of the school, told The News that it was nice to have so many educational institutions gathered under the same roof.She added that it was an opportunity for them to reach out to the people with their message and motto.Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University had also set up a stall.There were stalls by the City University of Science and Information Technology, Abasyn University, Sarhad University, Cecos University, Brains Institute and other seats of learning.The organisers of the stall stated that they provided information about the university to hundreds of visitors. The psychotherapy window established at the stall provided an opportunity for the visitors to know about some very basic issues they were facing. Some fine art pieces produced by the students had also been displayed at the stall.The University of Engineering and Technology Mardan, a relatively new institution of engineering sciences, was also there for promotion of different programmes and projects of the university.“Ours is a new university - just one-year-old. Earlier, it was a sub-campus of another university,” said Humaira Rahman, a teacher of the university.Karishma, a student of the same university, said that a total of four disciplines were being taught at the university.Two of them – Telecom Engineering and Software Engineering – were available only in the university, she added.
