Pakistan beat Philippines but fail to qualify for Junior Davis Cup finals

KARACHI: Pakistan failed to qualify for the Junior Davis Cup finals despite winning their last group match in the qualifying round against Philippines at Bangkok, Thailand on Wednesday.Pakistan beat Philippines 3-0. In the first singles match, Abdullah Adnan thrashed Axl Lajon Gonzaga 6-0, 6-1. Zalan Khan defeated Edgardo Manuel Angara 6-2, 6-3 in the second game.In the doubles match, the pair of Abdullah and Zalan overpowered their rivals Edgardo and Axl Lajon 7-5, 4-6, 10-3. The victory enabled Pakistan to finish at third position in Group C. They will now be vying for 9-16 position and play Indonesia on Thursday (today).
