LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Friday raided residence of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz President Shehbaz Sharif in order to arrest his son Hamza Shehbaz.PMLN leader Marrium Aurangzeb told Geo News that a seven to eight- member NAB team carried out the raid at Shehbaz Sharif's property in 96-H without any warrant."Are Shehbaz Sharif and Hamza Shairf terrorist that NAB is carrying out raids like that," asked Aurangzeb.She said Shehbaz Sharif, Hamza Shehbaz and other family members were present inside the house when the raid was carried out.The PMLN leader said the government was using NAB for its own purpose. Bilawal Bhutto: ‘Raid on Shehbaz Sharif’s residence without warrant condemnable’Citing sources, Raees Ansari Geo's Lahore Bureau Chief said the NAB raided the residence as part of their investigation against Hamza Shehbaz.NAB sources, he said, claimed that they do not carry out such raids without fulfilling legal requirements .The development came a day after government removed Shehbaz Sharif's name from the Exit Control List (ECL).The former Punjab chief minister was due to leave for London to meet his ailing granddaughter. NAB statement The National Accountability Bureau said a team was sent to arrest Hamza Shehbaz on the basis of solid evidence in cases related to assets beyond means and alleged money laundering.The NAB said Hamza Shehbaz Sharif's guards manhandled the team and tore their clothes besides giving death threats."NAB officials had arrest warrants for Hamza Shehbaz," the statement said, adding that it was not necessary for the NAB to inform the suspect beforehand about their arrest.The statement accused Hamza Shehbaz of violating law.NAB said it would arrest Hamza Shehbaz in the light of Supreme Court orders and also vowed to take action against those who interfered during NAB action.Punjab Government spokesman Commenting on the issue, Shehbaz Gill said the provincial government has no information about the raid.He said the NAB was an independent body which is doing its own job."A lot of people will be arrested in the process of accountability," he said without elaborating.The NAB said its team had to face resistance during the raid.
