LGs reclaim over 100,000 acres of state land: Basharat

LAHORE: Minister for Law and Local Government Muhammad Basharat Raja has claimed that local governments had reclaimed more than 100,000 acres of state land worth Rs 180 billion during the ongoing anti-encroachment drive across the province.According to a handout issued on Wednesday, the minister said this while addressing a meeting. Basharat said the drive would continue under the instructions of prime minister.The most precious 7,354 acres of state land worth Rs145 billion was retrieved from the illegal occupants in Lahore division while 58,177 acres were reclaimed in DG Khan, 20,963 acres in Faisalabad, 11,740 acres in Sargodha, 4,709 acre in Sahiwal, 3,873 acres in Multan, 3,312 acres in Gujranwala, 2,695 acres in Bahawalpur and 909 acres in Rawalpindi division. The minister directed the deputy commissioners and other officers concerned to continue the drive with more strength so that were no more encroachments on state land.
