Islamabad : The Headstart School held one of the country’s biggest robotics competitions with its students clinching top positions.Fifty teams from schools and universities with around 250 participants took part in the Headstart School Robotics Competition 2018.Dr Umar Shahbaz, head of the Mechatronics department at the College of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering-National University of Sciences and Technology, was the chief guest during the prize distribution ceremony held on Kuri Campus of the Headstart School, Islamabad.The competition was divided into two modules of Line Tracking and Maze Runner with three categories of Lego, Logic and Indigenous robots.For the first time, the HSRC introduced the logic-based category for schools.The Headstart School got first and second positions in Lego Line tracking module, the first position in logic-based line tracking module and the second position in Lego Maze Runner module.The winners included Bilal Ahmad Awan, Sahl Karim Kidwai, Rayyan Jawwad, Azmar Arif, Ibrahim Temur, Syeda Fizza Salman, Sara Ahsan, Farheen Warda Faisal, Eshal Zia Awan, Mysha Farooq, Ayesha Saad, Amal Khan, Ayesha Fawad and Tehreem Sabih.Saadia Habib, head of Robotics Department at the Headstart School’s Kuri Campus, said the competition, one of the biggest in the country, generated much excitement for students all over the country.“The HSRC is an ideal forum, where the robotics students can showcase their innovations and win accolades for their institutions,” she said.Saadia Habib said the Headstart Robofort Centre was striving to foster a mindset of problem-solving and logical thinking in children.“We aim to nurture future inventors, scientists, and thinkers,” she said adding that the Headstart School promoted the STEM (Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) education through project-based learning.
