Council to provide missing items to hospitals

LAHORE: On the directions of Punjab government, the Lahore district administration has activated the Lahore Health Council which was nominated in February by the Primary and Secondary Health Department.Officials said basically the health council was set up to overcome the missing facilities and timely provision of medical equipment to the seven Tehsil headquarters hospitals of the provincial capital. Soon after the nomination of health council, DC Ms.Saleha Saeed had directed the chairman of the council for holding a meeting to identifying the missing facilities in the health facilities. The work was divided into two phases.In the first phase in March, 17 items, including computers, printers, benches, office tables, refrigerators, chairs, water pipes, exhaust fans, blood pressure apparatus, Gluco meters, light apparatus, computer tables and chairs were provided in the health facilities. The district administration, after successful completion of the first phase, has commenced the second phase in which 37 items would be provided to the hospitals.The council held a meeting on Thursday and gave approval for their purchase and provision to the seven hospitals within two weeks. These items included UPSs, batteries, sheds for patients, root canal machines, biometric machines, LED flood lights, nebulizers, pulse machines, child weight machines, repair of doors and chairs, new doors, printers for CBC machines, signboards, water pipes, OT boiler, linen drums, curtains, repair of windows, woodwork in dispensaries, cabins, counters, operation tables and cupboards for hepatitis patients. The members of the council are: additional deputy commissioner, finance and planning, Lahore (chairman); an MPA, MSs of the hospital concerned, DDO health, a representative of the secretary, Primary and Secondary Health Department; SDO buildings, two philanthropists, CO, MCL and medical social welfare officers of the hospitals concerned. The seven hospitals are: Government Samanabad Hospital, Government Shahdara Hospital, Government Maternity Hospital, Chohan Road, Rana Abdul Rahim Hospital, Sodiwal, Government Hospital, Pathi Ground, Government Hospital, Ghaziabad and Government Eye and Gyne Hospital, Sawmi Nagar.
