However, it is equally important to bid farewell to 2018 by looking back at how the year went by, so as to prepare ourselves better for the present year.Like every year, You! speaks to a bunch of our favourite celebrities who played their part in making 2018 as entertaining for us as they could, with some amazing performances onscreen. The list comprises both new and experienced actors who have now become an integral part of Pakistan’s entertainment industry. Let’s dig into how the past year turned out to be for them... 1. My father had successful surgeries and is recovering very well from his cancerous tumour; I never made this public until now. Besides that, my first feature film (Pinky Memsaab) just got released and I got two super hit TV plays.2. To fight the system, I stayed true to myself, survived misogyny and became independent. But it was worth it.3. Travelling and taking risks and learning from them. It was a gamble this year.4. Not working for more than two months and mis-commitment by a few production houses.5. Progressive, interesting, challenging.6. My screenplay for my film. However, I wrote and conceptualised the story; just need to get the screenplay done now. So proud of that!7. I learnt to let go of things without resentment, I learnt to take chances, learnt about my needs and wants as I grew, valued myself as I became more self-aware, committed to my health & fitness as well as my career the way I should.Adnan Jaffar 1. My twins turning a year old.2. Spending two weeks in cold Kalash Valley with my father.3. No matter how small or big the role was, receiving very flattering feedback on performances from all sorts of people this year was unexpected.4. Nothing was a waste of time.5. Just Did It.6. Fixing my diet/exercise regime to prep up for marathons and iron man competitions.7. My wife is saying: zero change. Haww!Imran Ashraf 1. I got married.2. For struggling actors like me, everything is challenging not just this year but every year.3. The response and love I received for Bhola in ‘Tabeer’. 4. Nothing.5. I love it.6. No.7. I learnt that your issues are yours only; no one else can understand what you are going through. You have to cope with it yourself.Hamza Firdous 1. I got to showcase my work via two completely contrasting characters and got the opportunity to explore my profession. Also, I travelled a lot; saw places, met new people and had new experiences.2. Saying ‘no’ to people was the most challenging thing for me in 2018.3. Umrah experience with my mother; it was unexpected. The experience was surreal, fulfilling and content.4. A film project that didn’t materialise but I did learn from it.5. Spiritual, challenging and touristy.6. A series that got delayed and is still in progress.7. Patience is one thing that I learnt this year otherwise I was extremely impatient.Hajra Yamin 1. ‘Pinky Memsaab’ because I had been waiting for it to come out for a year. It was worth it; the response has been great.2. Sania in ‘Tabeer’; a very different character especially because her personality was entirely different from my own and I couldn’t relate to it at all.4. There is nothing; everything that has happened in 2018 I have learnt the most from it.5. Hectic, fruitful, memorable6. Nothing at all.7. Not exactly a change but I learnt that I need to give myself some breathing space in between my work and my schedules so that I am able to keep up with the pace of work.Madiha Imam 1. I cleared my exams with first division. And, great things happened, work-wise.2. Juggling between my work, my studies, my personal life and other voluntary social work that I do.3. Vacationing with a friend for the first time. I had a very good time.4. Anything that I invested in someone or something and didn’t get anything in return was a waste of time.5. A roller-coaster ride.6. My studies; I am done with my first year and I have another year to go.7. I have learnt quite a few things. One of the major things I understood this year was that one cannot force anyone to do something unless they wish to. It is pointless.
