Coke Studio 12 trailer to release on October 4

After 6 years of producing Coke Studio, music producer Rohail Hyatt bid adieu to the series – Pakistan’s biggest and most contested music property – and Strings stepped in for the next 4 years. The latter received huge numbers, and introduced the concept of multiple producers as well. They also made room for several artists, who were making their debut on the music series for the first time. Among them were names like the prodigious Usman Riaz, Malang Party, Mekaal Hasan Band, Farida Khanum and many more. And just last year, Coke Studio was helmed by Coke Studio team veteran Zohaib Kazi and Ali Hamza (of music group Noori). They introduced a prequel to Coke Studio called Coke Studio Explorer, which was about going across Pakistan and recording artists in their space. Even bigger than that was the re-introduction of music groups to the show; Chand Tara Orchestra, Mughal-e-Funk, Khumariyaan and Sounds of Kolachi made their debut and The Sketches returned with a bigger, better line-up. This led to some full-length album releases with at least two more albums on their way. Now, in its 12th year, Coke Studio is going back to Rohail Hyatt, who, according to sources, has made several changes this year, beginning with the house-band.Returning to its roots, the show will launch without a song unlike the last few years and fortunately where iconic songs like ‘Hum Dekhenge’, ‘Aye Rah-e-Haq Ke Shaheedo’ and others will not be used as the announcement of the artist line-up.According to multiple sources, the show will, in some ways, go back in time and the announcement of the artist line-up and guest musicians will release through a montage-esque trailer about the entire season. The trailer is set to release on October 4 with the first episode scheduled to air the following week – October 11.
