After performing familiar tunes on Pepsi Battle of the Bands since its resurrection after the iconic season one, Strings performed two songs on the last season - ‘Mera Bichra Yaar/Najane Kyun’ mash-up and ‘Zinda’, but in 2019, the band performed a song from their latest album, 30 (Tees). According to Bilal Maqsood, while ‘Sajni’ and ‘Urr Jaoon’ have become a benchmark already, ‘Chal Para’, on the other hand, has anthemic value. “It is a good concert song. The arrangement for ‘Chal Para’ is made in such a way that we plan to play it at concerts in the future in the same way. So, people know it and when we play it, it resonates. And Pepsi Battle of the Bands is a big platform and through it, it will reach a lot of people.”All judges perform usually. But as Bilal Maqsood told Instep, there is no competition between them. “We have a certain image. We want to keep things subtle. It suits others but it won’t suit us if we try to do something that is grand. Our songs should speak for themselves.”When we try other things, commented Bilal, it doesn’t work for us; it may work for other people. “This tee-shirt and jeans, this is it,” he concluded.
