Pakistani short Dia available on Amazon Prime

After multiple international screenings, filmmaker and theatre practitioner Hamza Bangash’s short film, Dia is heading to a streaming service and a giant one at that. The short film that had its world premiere at the 71st Locarno Film Festival in August 2018 is now available on Amazon Prime.The director, who is all set to represent Pakistan at the 72nd edition of Locarno International Film Festival next month, took to social media to share the good news. “After much effort, I can finally announce that our film is available for UK audiences exclusively through Amazon Prime Video Direct,” Hamza shared on his official Instagram handle.He further added how happy he is that Dia is still doing well, even after a year. “I am so happy with how our film continues to travel, almost a year later, and can now be seen through one of the most prestigious streaming platforms out there! Check it out, and be sure to leave us a review!” he added. Produced by CityLights Media Productions, which is helmed by Hamza Bangash, the short is based on the true story of a girl, Mariam (essayed by Nida Khan) who suffers from a mental illness.Earlier this year, the short had its premiere in London at the prestigious platform of BAFTA-qualifying London Short Film Festival (LSFF). It was also screened at the Dhaka International Film Festival, Bangladesh and Jaipur International Film Festival, India among others.
