Uncontrolled inflation

Of late, the entire nation has felt elated and jubilant on hearing some good news on the economic front. The ease-of-doing business index has witnessed a sizeable improvement which will hopefully spur new investment in the country. A couple of days ago, Moody’s rated our economic structure as stable. In the same way, the 100 index is on the upward trajectory and crossed the psychological figure of 40000. We saw our exports on the upward trends whereas a considerable decline in our imports has been recorded. For all these successes, our financial team won the appreciation and accolades of our PM.Inflation has taken a heavy toll on the lives of the people. It is deplorable that the common masses are being overburdened with a colossal price hike in every commodity of life. Gas and electricity tariffs have skyrocketed. Similarly, the prices of vegetables are setting new records. Stagflation has fractured the backbone of the people. The monthly budget of a family consisting of six members has become unmanageable. Providing better healthcare and quality education services to their children has become a matter of life and death for many. Business activities have stagnated. The salaried class has also received a severe jolt and meeting their monthly expenses has become a Herculean ask. Those in the higher echelons are least affected by the financial troubles of the common people. Keeping in view the exorbitant rise in price of commodities, PM Imran Khan along with cabinet members is requested earnestly to announce a hefty pay rise in the salaries of state employees. Moreover, steps must be taken to control the prices of essential goods.Muhammad Fayyaz NawrhaMianwali
