LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief executive Wasim Khan will step down as chair of the cricket committee and two former cricketers will be appointed for professional recommendations to improve the game across all formats.“We are taking steps to improvement. Revamp steps for improvement have been taken. Wasim will step down as cricket committee chair,” PCB chairman Ehsan Mani told ‘The News’ on Sunday.“We will be appointing two former cricketers in the committee who will be authorized to meet any member of our cricket family and give suggestions for betterment of the game,” he said.“There will be only one PCB member, who will act as a bridge between the cricket committee and the cricket officials. The committee will give its recommendations and final approval will be given by the chairman,” said Mani.Mani said that the committee will cover all aspects of the game in the country including international, domestic, women, stadiums and pitches. He said that pitches are not up to international standards and ICC curator Andy Atkison will be coming to Pakistan next month to work with the national curators to prepare fast and bouncy wickets.“We need to have bouncy wickets to prepare players at under 16 and under 19 level. Andy will be here next month to work on the pitches,” he added. Mani said that further changes will be made to make the PCB more professional.“The new constitution of the board will be effective from the first quarter next year in which changes made in the cricket structure will remain in place for years.”
