BANNU: A soldier was martyred and five others sustained injuries when militants attacked a security check-post in North Waziristan tribal district on Sunday, sources said.They said that unidentified militants armed with small weapons attacked the checkpoint near the border with Afghanistan. Lance Naik Muhammad Imran was martyred in the attack while five soldiers identified as Naik Tasleem, Naik Iftikhar and Sepoy Saleem, Sepoy Asmat and Sepoy Zeeshan were injured, they added.The Inter-Services Public Relations said two militants were also killed in the exchange of fire. Meanwhile, the Bomb Disposal Unit of the police defused an explosive device planted at the bus terminal near a madrassain Hindikhel in the Janikhel sub-division. The sources said all the roads, which were earlier closed for traffic as part of the security measures, were reopened after the explosive device was defused.
