Based in London, and originally from Lahore, Omar Mansoor is known for his work and how it has made waves in British fashion since the launch of his couture brand in 2008. He has designed for royalty, European aristocracy, British actresses and for the Oscars, Cannes. He has been featured in Vogue among other high profile publications. Suffice to say Omar is no small fish. But, when he visited Kaaravan’s training institute in Gujranwala and spent some time with the trainees and spoke to them about traditional embroideries and to the artisans about the craft among other things, it resulted in Omar Mansoor becoming Kaarvaan Crafts Foundation’s Goodwill Ambassador.Notes a press statement, “Kaarvaan Crafts Foundation was established as a not-for-profit company in 2004. Kaarvaan strives to create a world of cooperation and collaboration where men and women stand side by side as equals. Our local research has shown that after three months of grassroots community work more than 51 per cent of the women were able to improve the lives of their children.”
