While we await the release of Fawad Khan’s most anticipated film, The Legend of Maula Jatt, here is what he is presently busy with. On December 11, the heartthrob launched The Next Big Story, a platform that aims to provide an opportunity to aspiring content writers to be recognized via a competition. The event took place at Ali Auditorium in Lahore with Mahira Khan, Humayun Saeed, Ahmed Ali Butt, Vasay Chaudhry, Asim Raza and Navid Shahzad on the panel. They spoke about what constitutes a good script while Fawad announced the hunt for the next big-screen writer.Divided into different segments, the competition is open to writers from all over Pakistan. The first phase, as Fawad explained, is about script-writing, for which participants will submit a synopsis of their stories while they will be asked to provide full screenplays if selected. Fawad Khan’s production banner, Alteridom Films, will produce the film on the winning script.“It’s never been a better time to be a writer – or to aspire to become one,” Fawad noted about the new platform. “With the rise of our local cinema along with immense opportunities in global digital cinema, we feel there needs to be a platform for aspiring scriptwriters. This will not only help them break into the industry but will also provide them with a place that will recognize them and help them overcome some of the challenges in content writing.”He added, “For years we have been hearing about problems film industry professionals encounter in finding the right stories and interesting scriptwriters to work with. At the same time scriptwriters don’t know where to go and whom to contact to present their work. That is why we bring to you The Next Big Story.”
