Last week actor and director Shamoon Abbasi’s directorial venture, Durj, got a green signal from the Pakistani censor boards. Now the film is all set to hit cinemas across Pakistan on October 25.Initially Durj was slated to release on October 18. However, it was banned by the Pakistani censor boards because of its “inappropriate” subject. The ban on Durj was lifted after Shamoon Abbasi requested the CBFC to review the film for a second time with a new panel of judges/analysts.So, it comes as a surprise that the release of Shamoon’s upcoming film will be clashing with Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar’s cross-border love story, Kaaf Kangna.Talking about the clash, Shamoon Abbasi told Instep, “I wish good luck to the team of Kaaf Kangna, and hope that both films support each other at the box office.”Durj is based on true events and sheds light on cannibalism in Pakistan and it features Shamoon Abbasi, Sherry Shah and Myra Khan, Nouman Javaid and Majid Khan (Dodi) in important roles. As for Khalil-ur-Rehman’s Kaaf Kangna, it is said to be an ‘intense but incomplete love story of 1947 awaiting to be completed in 2019’ that stars Sami Khan, and Eshal Fayyaz in lead roles. Made in collaboration with the ISPR, the film also features Sajid Hassan, Shafqat Cheema, Ayesha Omar and Fiza Ali in key roles. With two films releasing on the same day, let’s wait and see how both perform at the local box office.
