Gentle Robot releases ‘Breathe’

Lahore-based musician Gentle Robot, having released his breakthrough song, ‘Slow’ in 2018 from an upcoming EP called Breathe is back with a second single and a music video. The song, the title track, ‘Breathe’ says Gentle Robot, is about the struggles that comes from trying to be a friend to someone who is suffering? “It comes from a place of helplessness…” he told Instep. The song, like ‘Slow’ has a melancholic feel but is darker and different in tone but just as beautiful as its predecessor – if not more. The music and lyrics alone capture you. ‘Breathe’ is written by Gentle Robot with backing vocals and bass by Eridu (Adeel Tahir), and guitars and synth by Gentle Robot, ambiance and sound design, also by Eridu with drums by Daud Ramay. The song is produced, mixed and mastered by Eridu.‘Breathe’ comes attached with a music video that has been selected by Cinediaspora Film Festival 2019 and shows the struggle Gentle Robot is speaking of through its narrative that features performers Khadija Arham and Fakhar un Nisa as they grapple with struggles, inner demons, numbness and the high-low curve balls that can’t be explained but understood a lot more clearly through the video.Directed, coloured and edited by Hadi Rehman, Gentle Robot outdoes himself as he sings: “There must exist a combination of words I could say that would make everything okay…”The music video and the song make for one of the finest of 2019 and must be heard and seen.
