“Body shaming has never stopped me from being who I am.” – Zara Noor

Zara Noor, who made her big screen debut with Wajahat Rauf’s Chhalawa earlier this year, is gearing up for her second film Parey Hut Love this Eid ul Azha. The actor, who shot to fame with popular drama serial Khamoshi in 2017 and recently appeared in Deewar e Shab with a small role, has spoken about body shaming on more than one occasion.During her recent interview with Haroon Rashid from BBC Asian Network, she reflected how toxic it can get and how badly it can affect people who are constantly reminded that they don’t fit in.“I was body shamed for a very, very long time on social media,” she shared. “I had to of course block out of it because if I would keep on listening to them, I would lose focus. If we are going to let them affect us or stop wearing what we want to that’s when it is concerning and negative. A lot of people came up to me and asked [me] to not wear certain things.”“The negativity of body shaming has never stopped me from being who I am,” she added. “However, I feel criticism is always very hurtful. It has always made me cry, it made me sob about my identity but there was a point in time where I had to tell myself to stop and make it a point where I have to embrace my flaws. My talent is not going to suffer because of that.”
