Residents protest dilapidated roads in Mansehra

MANSEHRA: The residents here on Friday staged a protest against the dilapidated condition of roads in the city and its suburbs.Holding placards, the protesters assembled outside the Mansehra Press Club and chanted slogans to demand reconstruction of the roads.“We will block the Karakoram Highway (KKH) to all sort of traffic for an indefinite period if the Communication and Works Department doesn’t initiate reconstruction of main arteries linking the city with neighbouring villages,” said Dildar Hussain Turk.Turk said that people of Pakhal and surrounding villages met with high-ups of the department concerned and district administration and apprised them of dilapidated conditions of roads but to no avail. “Our vehicles stuck in ditches during rain on the Pakhal road, which links the KKH with many villages,” he said. Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police Arif Javed has said the investigation department is working on a scientific way to solve cases. “The operation department referred us as many as 192 cases for investigation during the last couple of months, and we put 130 of them in a court of law for a trial,” Javed told reporters. “We have arrested 37 suspects during the correspondence period because of effective investigation based on modern lines and forensic analysis,” said Javed.
