Pharmacies at major railway stations

Islamabad : Pakistan Railways has planned to open Pharmacies at major railway stations in the country through invitation of bids as per Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) rules.“The bids will be offered as per single stage two envelope procedure and technical and financial proposal will be submitted by the bidders,” an official in the Ministry of Railways told this agency.He said that as per specific terms and conditions, a valid pharmacy license will be the mandatory requirement for establishment of pharmacy at any railway station.Technical evaluation criteria, scoring procedure for the bidders has been included in the bidding documents, the official added.He said the decision to open pharmacies was taken by the management on the directives of Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmed to provide maximum facilities at the railway station to the passengers.To a question the steps being taken by the Pakistan Railways to improve the services, he said the department was focusing on improvement of basic amenities such as the train lighting, ensuring watering, toiletries and cleanliness of the coaches and station platforms.
